Venus: 10th Anniversary Special Edition

 

Venus is the 5th studio album from October, the final album released under the name Luna, released in August 2011. Originally titled "On My Own [solar]" and scheduled to be released in June, October felt dissatisfied with the final product and decided to delay and revamp the entire album. As a thank you for fans' patience, October released the "On My Own EP" on the original album's scheduled release date in June. Removing songs, adding songs, retitling and redesigning the concept and artwork for the album with illustrator Kate Gibb, Venus was released in August. Venus has a wide variety of sound, including down-to-earth tracks written and recorded in October's home-state ("I Can See the Sunlight", "My Song", "Road to Somewhere"), rock-inspired ("Dirty Harley"), EDM bangers ("You Can't Hide", "Stop Hurting Me"), pop anthems ("Hell [help]", "Empty Words"), and found October experimenting more with darker electronica ("Move", "Get Down", "Drip"). Five singles were released from the album: "Move", "Dirty Harley", Grammy Award winning "Hell [help]", and October's first double A-side single, "My Song / Your Song". Venus was promoted with a worldwide tour,  A New Day: The Show, supported by Rӧyksopp and The Golden Filter.

Butterfly Records will be keeping up the tradition of October 10-year anniversary series' with the 10th Anniversary Special Edition series of Venus. For this series, every New Music Saturday in August will be filled with releases. Starting Saturday, August 7th, the 10th Anniversary Special Edition of Venus will be released on Digital Album, 2CD, Cassette, 4 colored variants of 2LP Vinyl, and the Collector's Edition Box Set. All five singles from the album will be re-released with updated artwork on CD, Maxi CD, 7" Picture Disc, Colored 12" Vinyl, and Digital EP. "Move" will release with the album Saturday, August 7th, "Dirty Harley" will release Saturday, August 14th, "Hell [help]" will release Saturday, August 21st, and "My Song / Your Song" will release Saturday, August 28th. Fans who order any physical format of the 10th Anniversary Special Edition of Venus from the Butterfly Records Online Store the entire month of August will be sent 1 of 2 bonus promo CD's: an enhanced CD for "Road to Somewhere" including the music video directed by Sam Brown or a 2-track CD for the bonus track "Fight Down" including the instrumental. Butterfly Records celebrates the 10th anniversary of October's massive 5th album Venus by releasing a Collector's Edition Box Set. The set is limited edition, numbered out of 5,000, and exclusively sold through the Butterfly Records Online Store. Housed in a dark purple box with golden speckles and a gold interior, the contents include every commercially released track and remix from the Venus era, many of which have been out of print for years and never digitally released. The album is presented on multiple formats including an exclusive brown cassette tape housed in a cardboard shell. 3 heavyweight 180-gram colored 12" records, grey, brown, and purple, are included in clear PVC slips featuring the 15-track album plus its 10 bonus tracks. The 15-track album and its 10 bonus tracks are respectively included on photo printed CD's in glossy cardboard wallets.

A photo printed Bluray disc housed in a glossy cardboard wallet is exclusively included in this box containing music videos, behind-the-scenes videos, a live performance video, and more exclusive footage, all upgraded to Bluray HD for this release. Another exclusive is the addition of the album's original concept, "On My Own [solar]", on photo printed CD in glossy cardboard wallet, featuring the 10-track original album tracklist plus the addition of 10 exclusive voice memos recorded on October's phone during the making of the album. These voice memos were uploaded on a private Soundcloud account in 2011 and never heard by anyone else until now. All 5 of the album's released singles are included on photo printed CD's in glossy cardboard wallets including alternative artwork and bonus tracks only available in this box. Five black ink Luna pens and a Luna book with pages to write and draw on are present, inspired by the original merch on sale at every date of A New Day: The Show. A hardbound 7" sized book features high-quality photos from the making of Venus, scans of the original album's lyric booklet, music video stills and behind-the-scenes photos, live performance photos, photos from A New Day: The Show, scans of promotional flyers, original design concepts for "On My Own [solar]", personal photographs taken by October in her home-state, and lyrics of all bonus tracks and b-sides. Finally, A New Day: The Show is included featuring the original CD and Bluray discs with alternative artwork in a pink Bluray case.
